Adriana was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer, Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), in July of 2019. Her mother fought for a diagnosis after two weeks of taking Adraina to the emergency room with swelling of the abdomen and loss of appetite. Each time she was sent home. One final time, her mother refused to leave until she had answers, and that was when Adriana was officially diagnosed with Pediatric Cancer involving the Liver.
After multiple rounds of chemotherapy, she received a a liver transplant, on her Birthday February 28th. She is recovering well, and is adjusting to taking anti-rejection medication, which she will be taking for the rest of her life. Adriana will continue to go to clinic and have labs with the transplant team to ensure her body continues to accept the new liver. Earlier this month she started what is hopefully her last round of chemo.
Adriana is surrounded by a large, loving family. Along with her parents, she has five siblings. She has 3 protective older brothers, an older sister and a younger brother. They have been by her side advocating for her throughout her whole journey.
Hearts of Hope Network is here to help Adriana’s family. Because of generous donations and support, we have sent Tony’s Hugs packages to each member of this family and are here to help throughout their journey.
Adriana’s family is also fundraising on their own. While we are here to help, the cost of caring for a critically ill child can be very extreme. Many times, their parents have to take off work or quit working to care for their child. We thank you for supporting Hearts of Hope Network through donations, and if you would like to help support this family even further, please consider following their support links below.
